Fallon Health now accepting applications for
  community grant program
Worcester, Mass., June 7, 2017 ― Fallon Health will award $100,000 through its Community Benefits Grant program to support innovative, community-based programs aimed at supporting our two funding priorities: health initiatives for seniors and health initiatives for children and youth. These priorities have been updated to reflect current community needs and align with community health indicators.
Fallon’s online application process begins with a Letter of Intent (LOI). Organizations meeting the criteria are encouraged to submit an online Letter of Intent by June 30, 2017. The Community Benefits Committee will review the LOIs and invite a selected number of organizations back to submit full applications in September 2017.
“Fallon Health recognizes that social, economic and environmental factors—such as poverty, education, housing and nutrition—have a great effect on our members’ health,” said Kimberly Salmon, Director of Community Relations at Fallon Health. “Our annual grants program is an opportunity to partner with community-based organizations to wrap services around vulnerable populations to create positive health outcomes.”
Last year, Fallon received 115 LOIs and invited 20 organizations back to submit full grant applications. Ten organizations received grants totaling more than $100,000. Average grant size remains in the range of $10,000 and $25,000.
Grants will be awarded to new programs or the expansion of existing programs that serve the targeted populations across our entire service area throughout Massachusetts with a particular focus on the following counties: Barnstable, Berkshire, Bristol, Essex, Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth and Worcester.
“Our annual Community Benefits Grant program is one way that Fallon addresses the social barriers that impact health,” said Christine Cassidy, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer. “Our 40-year commitment to making our communities healthy includes programs and services to meet the diverse needs of those we serve as well as mini-grants, hunger relief, corporate sponsorships and in-kind donations.”
