Fallon Health President & CEO Richard Burke named 2023 Advocate of the Year by the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce

The annual award recognizes a Chamber member for outstanding commitment and dedication to its mission, vision, and values, who serves as a champion of their efforts to amplify Chamber work.

“Our Chamber team and the larger business community we serve is lucky to have Richard not only as a member through Fallon Health, but also as a strong ally and advocate for our organization’s efforts and your fellow member businesses,” said Tim Murray, President and CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Through his ongoing advocacy, support and chamber board member and chair commitment, to creating economic growth and opportunity for area businesses and residents, Richard is an example of enlightened corporate leadership.”

Burke, who previously announced he will retire at the end of the year, has been with Fallon Health for 25 years, serving as President and CEO for the last eight. During that time, he has positioned Fallon Health as a leader in providing high-quality, coordinated care and coverage to the diverse communities it serves. Burke’s understanding of, respect for, and influential role in Fallon Health’s storied history in government health care programs are the foundation for his leadership. Burke’s achievements with Fallon include:

  • Attaining historic membership growth as well as expansion in the products and services it provides. Additionally, the organization has experienced significant and unprecedented financial stability and growth.
  • Further establishing the not-for-profit health care services organization as an anchor business in downtown Worcester, providing good-paying jobs and top-notch benefits. Most of its approximately 1,300 employees live in Worcester County.
  • Providing a robust and compassionate response around the COVID-19 pandemic including doubling down on the organization’s longstanding commitment to food and nutrition security and issues impacting older adults.

The award was presented on Thursday, May 25 during a special awards ceremony at the Off the Rails in Worcester.
